I’m looking to add milkweed to a tight garden spot! Butterfly Weed seems like an ideal candidate because of its compact, clumping habit and bright orange flowers, but I’d love to hear real garden experiences. What is your go-to “well-behaved” milkweed for smaller beds or containers?
In my experience around Toronto (Zone 5b), Monarchs consistently prefer my swamp milkweed over common milkweed. I have butterfly weed in the garden as well, but I’ve never actually seen them lay eggs on it.
